About the Position:

We are seeking a strategic Director of HRIS and Payroll with in-depth experience in UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions to lead and optimize our HRIS and payroll systems.

 

As the Director of HRIS and Payroll, you will oversee the day-to-day management and continuous improvement of our HRIS and payroll processes. This position is essential for ensuring accurate payroll processing, system integration, and regulatory compliance, while leveraging UKG technologies to enhance overall HR operations. The ideal candidate will have significant technical expertise in UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions, combined with strategic leadership in payroll administration. You will play a key role in driving innovation, improving system efficiencies, and aligning HRIS and payroll systems with broader organizational goals.

 

What You'll Do:

HRIS Management (UKG Pro & UKG Dimensions):

  • Lead the day-to- day management, and optimization of UKG Pro to support multi-location payroll, scheduling, and HR needs.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate UKG systems with enterprise software
  • Configure, upgrade, and maintain UKG Pro to ensure functionality meets business needs while maximizing efficiency in HR processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all UKG-related inquiries, providing troubleshooting, support, and ongoing training to end-users across the organization.
  • Ensure seamless integration between UKG Pro and payroll, HR, finance, and other enterprise systems to drive accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage the data integrity of HRIS systems, ensuring compliance with data privacy laws and security protocols.

Payroll Administration:

  • Oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll for employees across multiple retail locations using UKG Pro payroll modules.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and company policies, leveraging UKG Pro’s payroll features.
  • Manage payroll tax filings, including the preparation and submission of W-2s, 1099s, and other required payroll reports, ensuring tax compliance.
  • Lead payroll audits and reconciliations, addressing discrepancies and ensuring alignment with finance and accounting teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies, working closely with employees, HR, and Finance to ensure accurate payments.
  • Stay informed on payroll legislation changes and provide guidance on updates to UKG systems to comply with new laws or regulations.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HRIS and payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure alignment between HRIS, payroll systems, and organizational objectives.
  • In partnership with Operations and Training, develop and implement training programs for end-users on UKG systems and processes, ensuring system adoption and efficient use.
  • Provide insights and data-driven recommendations to leadership based on HRIS and payroll analytics from UKG Pro and Dimensions.

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure payroll and HRIS systems comply with all applicable labor laws and regulatory requirements, including the tracking of changes in federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Lead audits for payroll, HR, and workforce management systems, maintaining documentation and working with internal or external auditors.
  • Generate and analyze HRIS and payroll metrics for senior leadership, providing actionable insights to improve workforce management, payroll efficiency, and compliance.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of HRIS reporting and HR analytics to support the HR leadership team.

Qualifications:

At a minimum, what you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in HRIS and payroll administration, with at least 5 years of experience working with UKG Pro/UKG Dimensions.
  • In-depth expertise in UKG Pro, including configuration, optimization, and advanced reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations, including tax compliance, wage and hour laws (FLSA), and labor laws.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading HRIS implementations and payroll processing in a complex, multi-location environment.
  • Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment of HRIS and payroll operations with business objectives.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to analyze large data sets and provide insights that drive decision-making and improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and provide clear guidance to employees and stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
